I am going for a “mission trip” to Ghana, Africa, this summer. This course of Christianity in Context will survey a brief history of Christianity in Ghana with emphasis on present day contextualization of the Gospel. This course will address African perspectives of faithful witness with other living faiths such as Islam and primal African religion, as well as issues of justice and gender leadership in the church.
For me myself it is an opportunity to develop my theological skill in dealing with poverty, AIDS, contextualization, pluralism and to be able to reflect in the context of Indonesia. There are 8 of us in this class, and we are going to stay there for 8 days. For me it is also a prayer vigil to Africa, I am tracing the place where Augustine was born, Thagaste/Algeria, at least I will be at the same continent.
