Last Sunday I went with Elizabeth to San Ramon. I was so grateful to be given an opportunity to share the Word of God to the Gereja Komunitas Kristen Indonesia. The pastor, Rev. Hengky Tjahjadi, and also the congregation, were all very welcoming and friendly. I felt so grateful to meet them.
I preached from Hosea 6:1-6 and focusing on the importance of knowing God. Knowing means to know what makes God smile. It is like when we give a gift to someone, and we know that our gift will make the person smile. Our gift for God is "to love Him with all our heart, with all our soul, and with all our strength; and our neighbor as ourselves."
I retold the story of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10 to embody the meaning of knowing God. Knowing God, is also to know who is our neighbor. Because eventually our Lord Jesus will say to us:
Matthew 25:36-40 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' 37 "Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' 40 "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'
Blessings.
