Tuesday, May 19, 2009, a meeting was held between Student Association Council representatives and the Administration cabinet to discuss about the students' demands regarding the chaplaincy program, especially for the Chaplain to be reinstituted, fundraising for the chaplain position, transparency in decision making, internship program and Lloyd Center’s student voucher for counseling and spiritual direction. No discussion about the other faculty members. It had been expressed by the Administration that the downsizing was unavoidable, and there was no way to change it.
This meeting was followed up by a Student Meeting at Holy Ground on Friday, 22. The meeting agreed upon sending out two letters to the Board of Trustees. One contains students’ expression of dissatisfaction of the Leadership and the other appeals for students’ demands mentioned above.
It has been a diffucult time for SFTS and many other Seminaries across the country, but our prayer is that this Institution will be able to be the beacon of light. We are grieving for the loss.
